Class - Doodle It All - Socks and Such

Doodle whatever your heart desires. Choose any stranded colorwork project/pattern of your choice. Learn colorwork and skills related to your project. We recommend working from The Doodle Knit Directory or the NEW Doodle Sock Knitting Directory by Jamie Lomax (a.k.a. Pacific Knit Co.). You can also choose from any of Pacific Knit Co.'s Doodle patterns or use Doodle Decks paired with a Base Doodle Pattern. (If you have a different colorwork pattern/project in mind or in progress that you'd like to work on in class, that's ok too.)
Save the Date - Nov 22 is reserved for inclement weather make up. Class wil not meet on thisdays unless the class schedule is interupted.
Where to get your Doodles?
Cloverhill has doodle books and decks in stock. You can also find the books and deck on the designer's website, local yarn shops, and book stores. The doodle books and decks require you to make decisions to create your pattern/project. You'll pick a base pattern/project, decide on yarn/gauge, and combine charts as you see fit.
If you are looking for a more curated pattern expierience with a curated theme then the doodle patterns on Ravelry or the designer's website are for you! These patterns reduce your decision load. Yarn, gauge and yardage recomendations are included in the pattern like any other knitting pattern. The curated themes will give you a variety of motif charts to work with or you can use exactly the motifs pictured in the cover image.
Yarn:
You'll need at least 2 colors of yarn (Light and Dark). Using three to five or more colors makes colorwork doodling endlessly fun and lets you turn scrap yarn into a vibrant, custom project. The first day of class will include talk about color selections for those looking for a little bit of color advice.
Taking advantage of a 10% class yarn discount is a wonderful way to mix your leftover yarn scraps with a few new colors for a custom doodle knitting project. Look for yarns with good stitch definition while avoiding textured, fuzzy, or hairy yarns. If you are new to stranded colorwork we recommend picking multiple colors of the same yarn base instead of combining different yarns that seem to be the same thickness.
Use information from your project/pattern choice as a guide.
