Class - Reverse Knitting

Learn how to work wrong side rows without turning your work. This class will focus on making stockinette. As time allows, ribbing, garter stitch and other knit-purl patterns will be covered. Come to class with your pre-class homework on the needles ready to continue in class.

This class is open to all knitters and all styles of knitting are welcome - left-hand, right-hand, English, Continental, pickers, throwers, combination, etc. 

Skills Required

This is not a learn to knit class. Participants must already know how to knit, purl, cast on, and bind off unassisted. Complete the pre-class homework.

Materials

Yarn: Malabrigo Rios or similar worsted weight yarn. Choose a well-behaved yarn with good stitch definition. You don't need a full skein - scraps from your stash will do. Avoid dark colors. Avoid frizzy, hairy, or thick-n-thin yarns. If possible, use a yarn you've worked with before. We'll be learning new hand-eye coordination skills and a familiar or well-behaved yarn will be helpful to reduce frustrations.

Needles: US 8 (5.00 mm) or size as needed to make a nice fabric. 

Gauge:  Gauge is not critical but somewhere around 20 sts = 4" with a worsted weight yarn will put you in the ball park.

Pre-Class Homework

1. Cast on 30 sts using your preferred cast on.
2. Knit 1 row - Repeat for 5 more rows.  This makes about 1/2" - 1" of garter stitch.
3. Knit 1 row, purl 1 row - Repeat 3 more times for 6 rows total. This makes 1/2" - 1" of stockinette. 
4. Do not bind off - do not cut yarn - come to class with your homework on your needles ready to continue in class.
