Class - Crochet Squares

Have you ever wanted to make something out of crochet squares? This is the class for you! We will go over how to make squares, whether that's a pattern of your choosing or one of our class suggestions, and how to assemble them into things like garments or bags. The sky is the limit!
In this class we will go over how to make crochet squares and assembling them. We will have some suggestions of squares, but please feel free to bring in a pattern of your choosing! Our class will go over choosing your patterns, gauge swatching if necessary, and beginning to make squares. From there, our classes will be making your squares and troubleshooting any problems you come across. We will then learn how to arrange your squares and assemble them.
The skills you need for this class will vary based on the pattern you choose, but it is recommended to have a good grasp of basic crochet stitches like chains, slip stitches, single crochets, half double crochets, and double crochets. Knowing how to work in the round is a good bonus skill but is not necessary, as we will go over this in class.
The amount of yarn you need will vary based on your pattern. Here are some suggestions of patterns to use:
Solid Skull Granny Square by Clare M
Heart Granny Square by Sammi Zheng
Cozy Days Daisy Cardigan by Stephanie Jessica Lau
Granny Square Cardigan by Kaitlin Barthold
Daisy Sweater by Tania Skalozub (can be sold in store)
Granny Square Bucket Hat by Paula Joppru
Breezy Days Daisy Bag by Stephanie Jessica Lau
Victorian Lattice Square by Destany Wymore
There are many more square patterns on Ravelry!
Here are suggestions for hook sizes based on the yarn you choose to use:
Fingering- 4mm G Hook
DK- 4.5mm 7 Hook
Worsted- 5mm H Hook
Bulky- 7mm Hook
Super Bulky- 10mm N Hook
The amount of yarn you need will vary based on what you want to make and how many colors you use. For something small like a hat, 1 ball of yarn is plenty. But for something like a blanket, about 10 balls may be necessary. Cas will go over your pattern with you and help determine the yardage needed for your project.
This class will be at a relaxed pace, there is no pressure at all to finish all your squares! The techniques will all be taught no matter what. The most important thing for this class is to have fun and learn together!
