Class - Beech Leaf Pullover with Stephanie
Looking for a spring fling knitting project? This leafy lace pullover has spring written all over it. Work this lovely pattern up in Silky Wool and your spring fling will have year round wearability.
Join Stephanie on Monday evenings for 6 weeks this spring as we make the Beech Leaf Pullover together.
More than a KAL, but not an intensive technique class; this class is a relaxed low stress series for the spring as our days grow warmer and our evenings grow brighter. Come to every class meeting, or attend just a few. We've priced this class so you can feel ok if you can't attend every meeting. But!!! to make this work we need to run a full class. Register early to show your interest.
You'll learn some stuff, relax, chat, and make something, all with a Stephanie to guide you. You'll have the shop to yourselves for this after-hours class. If you want to amp up your learning in this relaxed class, Stephanie is always ready to answer on-topic and off-topic questions.
This project is great for adventurous beginners. Yes, there is lace, but this is the perfect project to tackle your fears. For the first few classes we will spend some time reviewing sweater sizing, gauge swatches, plus some basics about lace and chart reading. You'll have Stephanie on hand to help you where you need it and provide any trips and tricks you need along the way. There are lots of meetings so that everyone can move at their own pace.
Minimum Skills Required:
- You must know how to knit, purl, and cast on without assistance.
- You should know how to do some form of decrease (like k2tog, ssk, or skp).
- We will talk about size selection and cast on together in class.
- If you're ambitious you can cast on for a swatch before class. Your swatch should be at least 2 lace repeats wide and at least 1 lace repeat tall. 3 repeats wide would be even better. (You can unravel your swatch and reclaim the yarn if you need it to finish your project.)
You'll learn:
- Picking the best size, what the heck is ease?
- Reading a lace pattern (written and charted).
- Making a swatch.
- Measuring gauge.
- Blocking Lace.
- Seaming
