So you've learned how to crochet. Now what? Build your skills with Cas as you learn some new stitches, play with texture, and make a thing.
Minimum Skills Required:
You'll learn:
What you'll need:
Pattern:
Tasty Tamarind by Johanna Lindahl of Mijo Crochet. Pattern is not included in class. You can purchase the pattern through Cloverhill as a Ravelry In-Store Purchase. (Please see below about Ravelry In-Store Purchases.) Or, you can purchase the pattern from the designer indepentantly on Ravelry, or on Etsy. The pattern is kr.60.00 SEK (Sweedish Krona) or about $6 US. The pattern includes American Crochet Terms and UK Crochet Terms.
Yarn: (get 10% off any yarn purchased for class)
You'll need about 1,100 yds/450 g of DK weight yarn. (4 balls of Bamboo Pop would be a great option.)
This shawl would be great at showing off gradient yarns; using up scraps; or using solids and playing with stripes.
You can also use any fingering, sock, sport, DK, or even worsted weight yarn you want for this project. Really! Simply adjust your hook size based on your yarn selection. The finished size of your project will be smaller if you use a smaller yarn and smaller hook. Consider using Zauberball Starke 6, Crazy Zauberball, Uneek Sock, Wonderland Blossoms, Gusto Echoes and Sweet Georgia Party of 5 among many others in stock.
Got some stash yarn to use up? Do it! As always, you are never obligated to purchase your materials from the shop.
Hooks:
US Size H/8 (5.0 mm) (or size needed to obtain gauge or desired fabric). If you are using a thinner yarn, pick a smaller hook that works well with your yarn.
Notions:
Tapestry needle, stitch markers.
Finished Measurements:
Width along longest edge: 76" x 56" x 56" (if you get the same stitch gauge)
It's BIG! This triangular shawl is worked from the center out, row by row with stitch patterns changing every row. The size is easily adaptable by working fewer rows, or using thinner yarn.
Project Gauge:
15 stitches x 7 rows = 4" x 4" in Double Crochet
