Elizabeth Zimmermann’s amazing Surprise Jacket pattern is back on our shelves. Best known as the BSJ or Baby Surprise Jacket, this surprisingly simple pattern is available for Adult and Child sizes as well as for the baby in your life, in one handy pamphlet that also contains well-drawn illustrated instructions for several interesting knitting techniques.
Knitted in simple garter stitch in one piece, shaped with increases and decreases, the jacket appears once you have bound off and folded it, with only two short seams needed. Knit it in a solid color, a heather or variegated, or use up leftovers in a striped pattern.
This pattern is so versatile that entire Ravelry groups exist just to knit it in all possible variations! Stop by the shop and see how many of our yarns would look great in this sweater. Surprise yourself!
