Come and see. I hope to post pictures on Tues of the colors so you can see how fabulous they really are! Kate did an awesome job with this batch of yarn and I am really happy.
See you at the shop! Remember we are closed on Thurs, Thanksgiving so we can all spend time with our families and of course work on our fiber arts. ![]()

DragonFly - Dragon Sock is in stock!
Monday, November 23rd, 2009Holiday Knitting
Tuesday, November 17th, 2009Do you realize that Thanksgiving is NEXT week?? I am trying to be good this year, and I started my holiday knitting in October. This is quite an accomplishment for me, as I am the Queen of the Procrastinators. There have been many a Christmas where I’ve handed a gift recipient a half knitted present with promises to finish it “soon”. This year, I am really hoping to get this sweater done before the big day.

Nantucket Jacket
This is the Nantucket Jacket from Interweave Knits Winter 2006. I’ve wanted to make it for three years now! I’m using Berroco’s Ultra Alpaca which is just luscious! I’m really happy with how it is knitting up. Just two more inches and I can start shaping for the sleeves!
Have you started your holiday knitting yet? What are you working on? There’s still time! Even if you aren’t ready to commit to making your favorite lucky person an entire sweater, there are plenty of small things you could make in time for the holidays. The Ultra Alpaca would make a fantastic hat or scarf - soft and yummy.
Stop by the shop and we’ll be happy to help you find the perfect gift. And while you are here, feel free to check on my progress! It will be good incentive for me to keep knitting….

Happy Birthday Jolene!!
We would like to wish a very Happy Birthday to our favorite yarn shop owner, Jolene!
Stop by the shop and wish her all the best!
Welcome to the World!
Sunday, November 15th, 2009Hello. Yesterday was an exciting day for me! I have a brand new niece! I have seen pictures and she is cute as a button and I really hope to get to meet her very soon. Thankfully they don’t live very far away.
Last night, I found myself distracted waiting for the news of health and well being for both mommy and baby. So doing what I always do to ease tension and anxiety; I knit. I made little baby a new hat. Quick but super sweet.
Materials: 2 US 7 Circular needles (you can also use dpns), 1 skein Urban Silk Yarn (worsted weight yarn), stitch marker and Tapestry needle.
Gauge: 5sts per 1in
Pattern: CO 63 sts. Join in the round being careful not to twist. Work in st st (Knitting all rounds) for 4″. This is going to roll at the CO edge so don’t worry about the rolling, open in up when you measure.
Decrease for the crown of hat:
Round 1: *K7, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 2 and all other even rounds: Knit
Round 3: *K6, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 5: *K5, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 7: *K4, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 9: *K3, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 11: *K2, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 13: *K1, K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Round 15: *K2tog* repeat the whole way around
Cut a long tail and slip the through the live sts on your needle. Take the sts off the needle and pull the tail. They will close the top of the hat. Weave in yarns.
Flower: This flower is really a ruffle done in the round and with the center pulled together like the top of the hat was done.
CO 10 sts, join in the round.
Increase Round: Kfb and front again of all sts (this will make one st increase to 3 sts) on all sts.
Round 2: Knit all sts
Repeat Increase Round and Round 2 a total of 3times.
Repeat Round 2 three more times and BO
Using the tail of your CO weave it into the sts around the center hole of the flower and pull tight to close the hole.
Attach flower to hat and put on a sweet little baby head.
Looking to learn something new?
Wednesday, November 11th, 2009We’ve got some great classes coming up just in time to learn something new for all those long winter nights ahead.
Have you ever wondered how to do fair isle, knitting with two c0lors at a time? This technique allows you to create interesting color patterns and will get your fingers accustomed to holding two yarns at a time. Join Elements of Fair Isle on Saturday December 12 with Coleen and create a beautiful Fair Isle tam.
Back by popular demand is Bonita’s Einstein Jacket class. This time around it’s being structured as a guided knit-a-long. The first class will be instructional and then the following classes will meet as you need them. Bonita will be at all classes to offer support as you complete your Jacket. The classes are spread out so you can get your knitting done and ready for the next steps.
A personal favorite is Heron. This gorgeous cardigan is knit as fast as a cardigan could go using Berocco Peruvia Quick. We have tried it on several body types and it looks great from thin, average and expecting women! This sweater will be perfect to keep you nice and warm during your winter.
This is just a small sample of classes to wet your appetite! Check out the class page on our website and stop by or call to sign up for the class of your choice. We’re sure you’ll find something that interests you!

All Cashmere on Sale during November!
Saturday, November 7th, 2009A new month means a new yarn of the month, and November we have a special treat for you.
Yarn of the Month - Cashmere
Yes, you read that right. All cashmere currently in stock in the store is 10% off. What makes Cashmere yarn so special, you may ask? Cashmere yarn comes from the down of the Cashmere goat, and is one of the finest, softest fibers available. Finer even than merino, silk, and alpaca, cashmere is the softest yarn we have in the store.
Here is a preview of some of the different cashmere yarns you can choose from:

Kellie's Cashmere Cable Hat
1. Plymouth Yarns Royal Cashmere is a worsted weight, 100% cashmere yarn. It comes in various pastel and earth tones, with a lofty cable ply that disguises it as a regular yarn while the wearer feels its secret softness. One of our samples, Kellie’s Cashmere Cable Hat (say that five times fast), is made with just one skein of this little luxury.

Karabella yarns Supercashmere Fine
2. Karabella yarns’ Supercashmere Fine is a fingering yarn that comes in precious little balls with generous yardage. We have three colors in stock - white, fuscia, and purple (not shown). Only two of these would make an ample lacy scarf.
*
3. Jade Sapphire has two yarns that we have included in our Yarn of the Month Sale - Mongolian Cashmere, which is 100% cashmere, and Silk Cashmere, 55% Silk & 45%. Both are fingering weight 2-ply, and each 55g skein boasts 400 yards. One would make a lacy scarf, two a wonderful shawl, and four or so would be an excellent choice for the featherweight cardigan we have on display in the shop.
*
4. If you’re looking for a brighter worsted, look no farther than the few precious skeins of 100% cashmere dyed specially for the shop by Erin of C*eye*ber Fiber. Red and rose are the two semi solids we have left in her 300 yard skeins.
*
5. If natural hues are your preference, check out our second entry from Plymouth Yarns: Ecco Cashmere. One of our staff used one skein to make the very popular Flutter Scarf on ravelry. This yarn is a laceweight, its 354 yards weighing in at 50g.
*
6. Last, but certainly not least, is Jojoland’s Consonance. We have this 50% Cashmere, 50% silk in a rich salmon color. Check out our selection and treat yourself during Turkey month!
Holiday Gift Idea!!!
Thursday, November 5th, 2009I am sure you noticed how popular triangle shawls/scarfs have been the past couple of months or how cute a key hole scarf can be for a one skein project? The beginner class at Cloverhill Yarn Shop uses a pattern designed by Lyn (We miss you Lyn!) to use one ball of Silk Garden to create a great scarf.
So, I was poking around online and I found a free pattern for a little neck wrap on the Martha Stewert website. It calls for Sport Weight yarn (DK weight would work fabulously).
So what I am thinking is, since the yarn of the month is 10% off ALL yarns containing Cashmere wouldn’t this scarf be great? We have a lot of finer gauge cashmere blends that you could use or you can hold a lace weight cashmere with something else to add that perfect touch.
Enjoy your projects and I would love to see you at the shop soon!

Quick hat using Malabrigo worsted (just in time for cold weather)
Tuesday, November 3rd, 2009Every time I’m out of the shop for a few weeks I find all sorts of new and exciting items when I’m back! This time I walked through the door and walked right into a gorgeous sample hat. It’s soft, thick and deliciously cute! It’s the Sheep & Wool Hat and we’ve knit it out of two skeins of Malabrigo worsted. The Malabrigo worsted is pure merino wool and kettle dyed. It’s soft and warm and absolutely perfect for a warm winter hat. This would be perfect for you and anyone in need of a hat!
